Commentary
I have a love-hate relationship with higher education.
Part of me knows it matters. Education can open doors, sharpen how you think, and give you access to things that are difficult to reach on your own.
The other part of me knows the whole thing can also feel like a spectacularly expensive racket.
At one point, I got lost in it. I didn’t know what I was supposed to be doing, where I was headed, or why I was paying so much money to remain confused.
Eventually I reached a very academic conclusion:
“Fuck this, I’m out.”
So I left, became a bartender, and then an entrepreneur.
Fuckmore University came out of that contradiction. Respect for education, distrust of the institution, and the realization that sometimes the most useful thing you can learn is when to leave the classroom and start building something yourself.
